Traditional Christmas Market

Traditional Christmas Market

27th Nov. – 30th Dec. 2017
Visiting the Lübeck Christmas Market, which was documented for the first time in 1648, is one of the pre-Christmas highlights in the Hanseatic city.

Traditional Christmas Market

The aroma of roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, herbal sweets and delicious sausages wafts through the clear winter air, while the stalls on Markt and Breite Straße offer Christmas tree decorations, toys and countless ideas for wonderful gifts.

This festive pleasure is staged in Lübeck’s wonderful UNESCO World Heritage Site, providing a uniquely beautiful backdrop to the hustle and bustle of Christmas in the Hanseatic city.

To put you in festive mood, there are seasonal concerts in its five brick-built churches. Maritime Lübeck has no fewer than seven Christmas markets: the historical market outside St. Mary’s Church and the family market on the banks of the Trave river, the two arts and crafts markets in the Hospital of the Holy Ghost and St. Peter’s Church, and the Christmas markets on Rathausmarkt, Koberg square and on Breite Strasse.
